Photoshop 27.11 cleans up hair cut-outs with Enhance Edge

A new AI tool removes the colour fringing around hair and see-through edges, and Photoshop now lets you pick from 33 third-party image models.

Anyone who has cut a model out of a busy background knows the problem: the mask is fine, but the hair carries a halo of the old background's colour. Photoshop 27.11 has a new answer for that.

Enhance Edge

Enhance Edge runs an AI pass over the edge of a mask and removes the colour fringing, which matters most for hair, fur and semi-transparent materials like glass or chiffon. Each use costs 20 generative credits, so if you do a lot of cut-outs it's worth checking how many credits your plan includes.

More model choice

  • GPT Image 2 is now available for text-to-image and for Prompt to edit, which arrived in 27.10.
  • Photoshop can now call 33 third-party models in total, including Gemini, FLUX and Topaz Labs models.

Small fixes that help every day

You can now rename or delete entries in the Recents tab of the New Document dialog, and Adobe says it is using real-world usage data to speed up common workflows on Windows.

Our take

Edge cleanup is exactly the kind of job AI should take off your plate: tedious, easy to check by eye and not a creative decision. Run it, then zoom to 200% and check the edges against a bright colour before you sign anything off.
